Victim Identified in Sunday Morning Homicide in Morehead

Morehead, KY – It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that the Rowan County Coroner’s Office confirms the identity of the victim in Sunday morning’s tragic homicide incident. Following notification of the next-of-kin, Rowan County Coroner John Northcutt has identified the deceased as Luis Jocsan Nanez Lopez, age 15.

Luis, lovingly known as Jocsan, was a resident of Morehead and a vibrant young member of our community. He was preparing to enter his sophomore year at Rowan County Senior High School, full of potential and hope for the future. Known for his bright smile, kind nature, and respectful demeanor, Jocsan was a friend to many and a cherished member of both his family and school.

The details of the incident are still under active investigation by the appropriate law enforcement agencies. Authorities are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding this devastating act of violence, and we ask the public for patience and support during this process.
